Lexile Framework for Reading

Modern Senior Secondary School in partnership with Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd brings the Scholastic Reading Inventory for the students. The Scholastic Reading Inventory is a reading comprehension test that assesses the child’s reading skills using the Lexile Framework for Reading. The SRI is an online computer – adaptive assessment that adapts to the child’s ability.

The Lexile score from the test helps:
• Track the child’s reading growth over time.
• Match the child to books appropriate for his/her skills.
• Helps teachers place the child on the correct educational path.
• Helps teachers adjust their teaching style to the needs of the child

The Lexile Framework for Reading is: A scientific approach to measuring Readers Competence and Reading Materials. An educational tool that links text and readers under a common metric- the Lexile. A structured progressive scale that allows Reading Comprehension to be measured consistently on the same scale across time. Lexile measures: Two underlying concepts – Text complexity and Vocabulary Frequency.
